De Ont-moeting is a solo piece for a classical dancer accompanied by the musical composition Fratres of Arvo Pärt live played on violin and piano. Inspired by the Liber Novus of Carl Gustav Jung the dancer embodies a choreographic encounter between the ego and the soul in interplay with the musicians. In this way the Jungian dualism coincide – trough the choreography – with the typical tintinnabuli-style of Pärt.
Lightness and darkness, high and low, male and female, history and future, beauty and ugliness, are all oppositions counterbalancing each other. A similar dualism do we find in ourselves: between the ego and the soul, the mutual recognition of these two essences is the path to the highest form of self-realization.
Except being a performance, the piece rather be a real encounter with the person behind the image. A dance searching for balance, to dance the dream which must be danced, there where I meet me.
